New Bodycount trailer shows Asia gameplay

Codemasters has released a new Bodycount trailer focusing on the game's original musical score. The music sounds nice enough to us, quite dramatic actually, but we're most interested in the gameplay featured in the video. Set in a rainy Asian city, it shows off some stealthy looking pistol takedowns as well as some more frantic grenade action. rmt Earlier this week, Codies released a weapon-focused Bodycount developer diary. The shooter hits PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 2 in the UK. Tom Ivan

Uncharted Waters Online Interview Who Nee

 。

OnRPG: With three expansions under the belt in othrmterkets, aren't the maps completed in Uncharted Waters Online?
Tomokazu: No, they aren't. Ocean areas have been left which have not been yet published.。

 。

OnRPrmtG there and thank you for talking to myself and OnRPG.com about Uncharted Waters Online. Could you tell us a little about what you do for the game/company?
Tomokazu: Koei Tecmo Games, Inc. was established in April of this year through the business merger of Koei Co., Ltd. and Tecmo, Inc. We are currently working on several online games, one of which is "Uncharted Waters Online". In this game se the world of the 16thcentury, the player becomes a ship's captain and sails around the world. It is operated in four regions, namely JapS. Korea, China, and Taiwan, and is enjoyed by many people.。

OnRPG: Speaking of piratical influences, do you foresee many players recreating their fave pirate movies in Uncharted Waters?
Tomokazu: Yes, I do. I believe that it is possible for enough to be done.         &;    。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Getting around in the Old World took some time. far flung are the various cities players can lay claim to? Are the furthest reaches of the world hours away?
Tomokazu: The extent of their country's innce on towns will be changed by the change in friendly relationship between their country and the town, not by players insisting on their proprietary rights. To get to the area farthest from Europe will take several hours. Of course, if you can get a better ship in terms of performance after having performed well and advanced in the game, I think the time taken will get shorter.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Ships and T, a match made in heaven. Naturally I have to ask how the economy in these murky waters will stand up to pirate influences.
Tomokazu: The economic system is not designed unalterable. We emphasize the fact that every player can enjoy stable trading play to some extent. The market prices of trade goods are directly affected by players, but the economy is not totally concluded by the playeThey are also controlled by the NPC algorithm. If time pass even if the prices of trading goods are changed by the players' actions, the mechanism where rebound is processed to some extent by NPC trading is adopted, so the economy cannot be collapsed by players' actions only.。

OnRPG: Where there's a Navy, there's a war! Will players have large scale naval engagements to lforward to?
Tomokazu: A great battle for national prestige is a major event that brings together more than a thousand ships. It will be a great place for a soldier to try out the fruits of his daily training.。

OnRPG: Not everything in life is plain sailing. Are there weather ets out there in Uncharted Waters that players should be wary of?
Tomokazu: The most alarming thing is a storm, but there could be lots of other problems.。

 。

 。

OnRPG: If there was one spot in the world you've createdt you think a new player should see, where would you suggest?
Tomokazu: First, I recommend you try to reach India, which sailors dreamed of then.。

OnRPG: While designers strive for balance in all things, the World Cup shows that competition is alive. Any chance that the Netherlands will give the Spanish a bit of a tough time he
Tomokazu: Spain was a powerful nation then, so I think it is very diffi to do so. However, I think it could be achieved through the effort and unity of the users belonging to the Dutch.。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Uncharted Waters has been around for a few years now and is finally reaching shores over here in Europe and North America. What prompted the move into a new market?
Tomokazu: We first considered Asia to be the main target of this content, but as it has become popular and achieved a pretty good outcome in many places, we have taken into acc the service all over the world. CJI chose this game to expand their business around the world, which helped create an opportunity for us at last.。

OnRPG: How is ship to ship combat handled in the game? Is it an RPG basis or do viable nautical ics such as Crossing the T come into play?
Tomokazu: Positioning and collaboration among each fleet are very important in that the battle is being waged in real time. The decisive factor will be player's skill.。

 。

 。

OnRPG: Trading, conquest, exploration. It seems all bases are coveredplayer types. Do the other avenues mean that players can be their own trading company or is there an emphasis on combat?
Tomokazu: If you are a merch you can invent a large sum of money and obtain support all over the world and thus expand your sphere of influence. If you are an adventurer, you can make discoveries and find treasures all over the world. If you are a soldier, you can obstruct other countries' trade as a pirate, or conversely, you can win fame by cracking down on hostile countries.。

OnRPG: Towns, Cities, ships. Players have many options on places to go. Certainly I'ven your gorgeous vessels locked in combat, but are there also boarding actions to be had or will players only swings swords on land?
Tomokazu: It has not yet been implemented in the current version, combat on the ship will be allowed in the future.。

 。

Uncharted Waters Online Interview: Who Needs A Compass?
Questions by Jonathan (Ardua) Doyle, OnRPG Journalist
Answered by Tomokazu Takeda (Main Producer of Development Division)。

OnRPG: There are many games out there that attempt to make the jump to consoles and sometimes suffer for it. Uncharted Waters is available however on PlayStation. the console port benefitted the game?
Tomokazu: When all is said and done, the customer range has widened. We believe the best advantage is that customers who would not have visited our service, if there had been only in service for PC, now get to enjur service.。

KOEI has set sail for Eean shores with its popular and well established Uncharted Waters Online. No compass is needed to get the juicy details, let OnRPG guide you through the dangerous and exciting uncharted waters that lay ahead.。

 。

 。

OnRPG: As I understand it the game is based in the historical Age of Exploration, though a romantic and fictional version of it. Do amateur historians have much to look forward to in the settings presented?
Tomok I think so. Some fiction and fantasy are included, but history lovers can enjoy it because there are a lot of quests whose theme is historical fact.。

What is 'Saints Row Money Shot'

Saints Row: Money shot has been outed by a classification report in Australia, with details and screenshots emerging online. The classification listing is official enough and names the title along with its "strong vrmtice and sexual references" to a degree worthy of a 15 rating.Sex and violence is in the bank, then, that's not going anywhere. What sheds more light on Money Shot, but isn't so official, however, is a synopsis on MS Xbox World. The Saints Row spin-off (whether it's DLC for the The Third or a whole new spin-off) is described with the following:"You are Cypher, a deadly assassin in the world of Saints Row, and you hunt the most elusive targets with the most sophisticated weaponry that Ultor has to offer. "How sophisticated? You have the ability to control your bullet to such a degree that you can weave through the hallway of an apartment complex, steer through the legs of a hooker, and even snake your way through a moving train! Avoid striking solid objects and unintended bystanders and make sure you hit your mark!"The site also lists a fairly unexciting set of Achievements which total 200 - suggesting an XBLA game - and a set of screenshots, which bring a whole load more weight to that description.Whatever it is, it looks suitably Saints Row as far as crazy is concerned. Have a look at the latest Saints Row The Third trailer and screenshots to compare. A few of the screenshots can be found below, the rest are on MS Xbox World via the source link. Tom Pakinkis

PS Vita RAM cut doesn't worry us - Sony s

A Sony studio partner appears to have confirmed reports that PlayStation Vita's RAM was cut by Sony in order to make the device's price more competitive. However, Novarama boss Dani S醤chez-Crespo doesn't believe rmttthe cutback will affect development on the system too much - and could even be "good for developers".French site 01.net - which has an uncanny knack for leaking accurate Sony information - reported in May that the system's on-board RAM and VRAM had apparently been cut in half to 256MB and 128MB respectively. In response, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida later suggested that people should "not believe everything you read on the Internet".Now, speaking to respected industry publication Develop, S醤chez-Crespo said that the system would still "have a whole lot of headroom in terms of GPU power, CPU power and indeed RAM".Asked if the alleged cut would affect Novarama's game creation, S醤chez-Crespo said: "No, that won't affect us. It's actually good for developers to work under constraint. Generally for Vita, we still have a whole lot of headroom in terms of GPU power, CPU power and indeed RAM".He added: "Remember the PSP had 32 MG of RAM, we have about ten times that now."If talk of the Vita downgrade cut is accurate, it would carry less RAM than Apple's iPhone 4 - which reportedly holds a whopping 512MB, double the on-board memory of even the iPad.Speaking to CVG, Epic Games this month revealed that the level of RAM was their No.1 concern when it came to next-gen consoles."I think our biggest request from any new console will always be more memory - more than anything else," said European boss Mike Gamble.

Those games will be available to download free from September 1 for 3DS Ambassadors; that is everyone who bought a 3DS before the price drmtrnd logged into the eShop before August 12 (although failing that, there are other ways to prove your eligibility). Nintendo will later this year give eligible Ambassadors 10 free Game Boy Advance games, seven which have been confirmed as: Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kirby & the Amazing Mirror. The 10 free NES games will go on sale to the general public later this year, but Nintendo says it has 'no plan' to ever sell the 10 GBA games. R.O.S.E

Tried ROSE for a few days, won't be back. The game has great potential but more time on game intrmtee and less on graphics would have been a major advancement.

The characters' equipment is kind of cool in a younge teenage way. You can make your character 'pretty pimp' with some effort. The monsters and all around feel made me think of renaming the game to "Candyland", very immature. As an adult I felt over ran with 'kiddies'. I have a horrible graphics card but I was able to play and was hrmtawith the graphics for items, equipment etc...visually the game is easy to read.

Lots of items, weapons, armor...you get the idea...

I must stress I personally hated camera view, you must constantly adjust when you move. I think I spent more time adjusting to see what was in front of me then having fun.

I also hated that Gm's seemed to be non-exsistant. Offensive names were easy to find as as language.

The servers are consistantly 'extended' and lag was a major factor in busy areas.

The game interface was far more licated then it needed to be. As for a game manual....Even if some explanations were vague because of translation...it was still a joke.

Bottomline: To say this game is only in testing stage is an understatment. This game brings a new meaning to 'user UNfriendly' and with the immature feel and the average gamer age of 14...it's hellish foose over age 18. At 29, it was pure terror.

inFamous 2 'Update 3' released, tweaks UG

Sucker Punch has release 'Update 3' for inFamous 2, and it's a lot more exciting that it sounds. First up, two massive bosses The Devourer and Titan are now placeable characters in UGC (user-generated content) levels, which is cool. "These are mammoth characters that can be used in any way you can think of. Have the two be friends, have them fight each other, have them protect Cole. It is all up to you," explains SP.Next, the patch adds a new Mission Linking feature, which lets you link missions together in a specific order. "Shortly after the launch of inFAMOUS 2 we started to see UGC mission series ... Playing these missions in order was a little on the challenging side and we wanted to make it easier for the mission creators and the fans playirmtnese missions, and Mission Linking does that," says SP. "You can now select another mission as a follow-up mission. Just update the properties on the Mission Start in the editor and publish all the missions associated. Once they're all on the server you'll have a link series of missions. When a player completes the mission they will be given the option to continue directly to the next linked mission."Also new is a Mission Review system, which allows you to submit a short review for any UGC mission you play. And here's a few other tweaks:- Relative Health. You can now change "Health" and "Cole's Energy" modifiers as percentages.- Volume/Monitor Reset. New "Reset When' option on Volume and Monitor logic objects lets you change how or when they can be reset after being triggered.- Author Mission Search. Search results will now display the level author's name. That's all for now, but there's more to come; check out this trailer for InFamous 2: Festival of Blood, a standalone expansion for the open-world game arriving in October. Spiral Knights Nostalgia Made New

For anyone that's willing to drop in a few bucks from time to time, having a constant supply of energy will be no problem, but for anyone that doesn't want to pay will have two problems: When all their mist energy (free rechargeable energy) is gone, they'll have to exchange their crowns for crystal energy to continue venturing the dungeons while potentially missing out on being able to purchase new equipment and recipes for a while, or they will simply have to wait up to 22 hours for their mist energy to refill back to 1rmt0

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Zelda style dungeon crawler
Browser game; can be played on almost any PC
Clean visuals
Nostalgic 16-bit music。

 。

One common mistake that most action/adventure games have when setting difficulty curves is when they simply give enemies higher HP and rmthr attack power instead of making them smarter, but enemies in Spiral Knights do indeed get smarter at higher difficulties. This is especially true of gremlins that will dodge bullets like crazy and run away to heal themselves when they are low on health.。

The difficulty curve for each dungeon seems to be nice and appropriate: Tier 1 dungeons are a cakewalk, Tier 2 dungeons get a little more complicated and Tier 3 dungeons requires some serious skill, patience and teamwork. Venturing through each dungeon is as simple aseating a couple of enemies in one area, moving on to the next area, fight some more enemies, find some treasures and head for the exit. It's nice and simple, just like a dungeon crawler should be.。

Did you enjoy playing that fire themed stage over and over again? Well good, because now you get to play an incredisimilar stage with an ice theme!。

The Clockworks are in full rotation as Three Ring Design (with some help from Sega) released a brand new multiplayer adventure called Spiral Knig Through the power of JAVA based programming, Spiral Knights mixes classic dungeon crawling with tons of MMO goodness, all working within your internet browser!。

 。

Crash landing on a strange planet, you and a bunch of other knights must explore the world that waits below them in order uild a new ship and make it back home (or wherever they were going...)。

 。

One thing I really got to say, th: The community in Spiral Knights is probably one of the nicest online communities I have ever played with. Everyone playing acts like a total bro, always there to lend a hand and everyone is always doing their best to conquer dungeons with you. I have never come across one rude player. Not one! But then again, the game is centered on PvE, so the community has no reason to be full of elitists or anything like that。

 。

Just to give you a general idea about how much content we are dealing with here: Some players have already been spotted with 5-star equipment, which is supposedly endgame equipment and the game only been out for a couple of weeks...。

Most of the monsters you will do battle against are fairly predictable to take down, but when you have to deal with huge of them, battles tend to get fairly frustrating at times.。

 。

No official gamepad support
Lack of content
Energy system needs a bit of retooling。

The game gets you up to speed with a contrcheme that is incredibly simple. So simple, in fact, that you can play the game with one hand: Hold left mouse button in a general direction to move, press left mouse button to attack and use the scroll wheel to switch weapons.
You clso use keyboard for more options such as blocking and using vials. Controls for keyboard & mouse work great, but the lack of gamepad support is fairly disappointing considering the game could easily pass as a console title.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

As fun as adventuring into Clockworks can be, the biggest issue with Spiral Knights is a lack of content and the energy system.。

 。

 。

 。

While you are essentially not required to buy anything with real money, the energy system in Spiral Knights serves as an elevator key, a craftiubstance and a pseudo-fatigue system. Energy is used for just about everything, and you will need to keep your energy up by either buying some with real money or by exchanging your hard earned crowns (in-game currency) for some.。

 。

 。

 。

For starters: Creating your knights gives you a small but adequate amount of choices, along with different color schemes that will stick with you depending on the different armors you will be equipping laon.。

 。

The amount of weapon types at your disposal is small, but the variations between each one is vast. Each sword, gun and bomb type work differently and have different attributes, such as Cutters that can perform lighting fast attacks or the slow and powerful hatchets that can cause a stun effects with heavy blows. This will give players a small amount of strategy before heading into dungeons, but you'll most likely find one or two weapon and armor sets that will work best for you depending on which tier you've reached.。

 。

 。

 。

By Michael Sagoe (mikedot), OnRPG Journalist。

 。

My personal favorite was the Autogun because it looks suspiciously like a Nerf Maverick.。

Overall: Spiral Knights is a great game to those looking for a casual pacing and a bit of nostalgic gaming. Those that are looking for a much more extensive experience will probably have to wait awhile for more content to in, and judging by the constant amount of updates being churned out by Three Ring Design, that shouldn't be too far off.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Therall presentation of Spiral Knights screams "nostalgia" at every turn. The visual style and level designs look like they came straight out of a Legend of Zelda game. There is also some pleasant and epic music with a 16-bit vibe.。

 。

 。

Of course, there is somewhat of a solution to the first problem, and that's heading back to the surface and selling your stuff, but it will usually be stuff that you'll need to craft your own equipment to continue on, so the dirty cycle conts. The current energy system only gives free players around two hours of play time, and that's only if they don't they don't screw up and die constantly, forcing them to spend more energy to revive themselves or hope that other players are willing to use their energy to revive them.。

 。

 。

If you're looking for a casual experience, SpiKnights will be perfect for you. However, there isn't enough content here to keep a power player busy, especially with the lack of content stemming from the lack of different stages to explore. The Clockworks promises to have tons of new stages to explore, but in truth, many stages you visit are simply re-tooled with different monsters to fight against.。

Has Bioware Got It All Wrong

 。

What I'm asking is whether or not Bioware is approaching the idea of the "fourth pillar" correctly, and perhaps whether their perception of what an MMORPG is, at its core, fundamentally flawed. The objective of this article is not to insist that I am right or wrong, but to get you thinkrmtibout the points I put forward. I would also like to note, that I do fully understand that the game developers have worked on the other "three pillars" that make up games in the genre in addition to this "fourth". As previously said, this article is about their idea of the "fourth pillar" and how the developers view the genre from a design perspective.。

I want to begin by talking about Bioware's idea of the "fourth pillar". I feel that the above quote allows us to get into the frame of mind of the developers of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and their perceptions of MMORPGs. In this quote, Daniel is saying that Online RPGs are missing an essential element that single-player RPGs provide. This element is the storyline. Daniel also argues that without a story, or even a context for the world you're in, there rmti point to MMORPGs. I both agree and disagree with this.。

 。

 。

"If the idea of story and context really turns you off, if what yout is [just the] complete Disneyland experience, where you run on the rides and repeat the stuff, this probably isn't your favorite MMO" (source)

Yet, there is a question that has been sitting in the back of my mind, has Biowaotten it all wrong?。

 。

 。

 。

I understand that Star Wars: The Old Republic provides the utilities, such as clans, to let players experience the game world and come together however I feel that company should be focusing more on building the tools to let the player truly experience the world and make a name for him/herself among the community. For example have factions pit against each other to compete for supply points. Make it so that these supply points have nothing to do with the NPCs or the story elements, however if the faction loses it severely effects the player's fact This drive to succeed will then make players fight much harder and co-ordinate with their team mates more, and then you'll hear stories about how the "Alpha" Clan swooped in and saved the day.。

 。

 。

"And then MMO [games] showed up, and it wasn't that. It was the ruleset to an RPG: There was combat, and there were areas, but that was all. Someone had left out the mod There was no story, there was no point. You just kind of wandered around. And that hasn't really changed all that much over the years." - Daniel Erickson, Principal Lead Writer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. (source)。

Now, what would happen if I created a green field that had big leafy trees, and a beautiful blue sky hovering over it? Not only that but your character, instead of being a black dot, was male or female and had a t-shirt and trousers on. This would make the game a little bit more interestingNow, what if I said you could create anything you wanted in this world? What would happen if I gave you the ability to build a house wherever you wanted to? Or raise an army to conqthe world? If I gave you the ability to construct and destroy objects inside the game world, what would happen to you and the thousand other playersthen? I'm certain that you'd hear about other player's exploits, and you'd no doubt be told stories of their success or failures. Your own personal story would reveal itself as you make choices about whose side to join, and you decide what to fight for. I have not designed this story, however by providing the community with the correct utilities, I have created a world in which you go forth and create your own personal tale.。

Back to the issue at hand about whether or not Bioware is missing the point of MMORPGs. I believe that the purpose of the genre is not to teinear stories, but instead to create an environment that allows players to come together and ultimately create their own stories, and decide their own path in a community of other players, not to decide whether or not they're going to side with a particular NPC faction.。

Star Wars: The Old Republic, Bioware's up and coming Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), aims to change the formula that the genre lives byis was made immediately clear in the company's press statement announcing this new Star Wars game, whereby Co-Founder and General Manager/CEO of the studio, Dr. Ray Muzyka, made the statement:。

 。

 。

 。

Has Bioware Got It All Wrong?
By Joshua Temblett (Dontkillmydreams), OnRPG Journalist。

"Traditionally, massively multiplayer online games have been about three basic gameplay pillars - combat, exploration and character progressionIn Star Wars: The Old Republic, we're fusing BioWare's heritage of critically-acclaimed storytelling with the amazing pedigree of Lucasfilm and Lucts, and adding a brand-new fourth pillar to the equation - story."

I think that this type of experience is what MMORPGs are all about. They're not just online, single player RPGs. MMOs are all about your story, the player's story. The genre is all about writing your own tale, and making it echo throughout the ga world.。

 。

 。

I agree with Daniel when he argues that without any sort of context, be it background information about the world or the placement of NPCs, there is no point for your character to exist in the world. Neither is there a point in you playing the game. If, for example, I created a game whereby there was nothing in the world, no environment, just an endless echo of whiteness, and I were to put you and one thousand other players in this game world, butyour character were just black dots, then what would be the point in playing? Not only that, but you would be limited to two actions, moving and chatting to other players. Would there be any point to this game? Would you play or very long? No, I didn't think so, especially considering how many other things there are to take up your time. In short, there is no point to a game with nothing in it.。

 。

It's a very smarstem, for you see whilst Bioware argues that (http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/8006/bioware-you-can-put-a-j-in-front-of-it-but-final-fantasy-13-isnt-an-rpg) JRPGs are not RPGs, this conversation system just covers up the game's linear nature. For you see whilst Mass Effect may have a variety of different endings and different outcomes based on your response, at the end of the day you still move forward in a linear fashion towards the end of the game. But I think I might be going a bit off course and taking a slightly controversial route.。

Since this press release, from the 10thOctober 2008, Bioware has talked constantly about this new focus on the "fourth pillar", and its importance in MMORPGs. The company has used the design decision of focusing more on the story element of its new game as a key marketing strategy, by trying to appeal to the gamers who might be sick of the generic, genre formula. In fact the Lead Storyteller for the game, Daniel Erickson, recy commented,。

In this respect, I t Bioware has got it all wrong; however I guess we'll just have to wait until 2011 to find out. 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

This long example leads me to my main point about Bioware's "fourth pillar". Daniel argues that MMORPGs are mis the core element of RPGs, which is the story. He is correct, however not in the way he thinks he is.。

 。

 。

Let's look at how Stars: The Old Republic creates its story elements. First off, there are conversations trees. When you talk to a Non Player Character (NPC) you can decide from a series of pre-set choices about how to respond to what the NPC character is saying. What response you choose decides the outcome. For example, if I choose a rude response to what a character is saying, then that character may attack me. This is the same system that moves the story along, and allows the player to effect the outcome, as seen in some of Bioware's other games such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect.。

Pirate Galaxy Interview What's Up In The

We are working on lots of smaller tweaks and UI improvements, but most notably we want to make sure the overall stability is up to snuff.。rmt
Onrpg: What can improvements do players can expect to see as the game progresses in its closed beta stage?。Pretty good! We had problems with the database but the game itself is running like a breeze. We are getting some very positive feedback from the community, as well as some valuable bugreports and suggestions which we armtrrking hard to incorporate into the game.。What issues will you be expecting when more players join the game? Our software is completely programmed in JAVA. This allows us to run from a browser or off the desktop. It is the exact same client in both cases, so from a technical perspective it makes no difference. We could even run the game as an applet inside an HTML page if we wanted. Whether you run off a browser or permanently install the game on your PC is really a question of taste – the experience is always the same.。
Onrpg: How big do you expect the community will take part in Pirate Galaxy?。
Onrpg: We noticed that in one of the recent updates you finally included the W,A,S,D controlsthe game system. Was part of the plan or was it thought off as the closed beta test?。
Onrpg: Will you include more ship choices? Where did you get the idea for the designs of the current roster?。The first planets are very storiven. But as you progress in the game, it becomes more and more open and player-driven. The Conquest system mentioned earlier is the best example.。
Onrpg: How would the PVP system work in Pirate Galaxy? Will it be implemented anytime soon?。
Onrpg: Will Pe Galaxy include Guilds in the game? What will they be called? And will they become an important part to the whole storyline?。
Onrpg: Would you include a tutorial guide for new players? Or would you put in more Missions that can help players get more familiar into playing the game? 。We are launching a new starsystem, ANTARES, very soon now. You will see some very exciting new missions (our mission system is getting better and better as we speak), as well as a cool new feature called CONQUEST. The conquest system allows clans to take control of planets, defending it against other clans and gaining exclusive access to the Kryonite crystals to be found on that planet. We expect that our players will have loads of fun with this new feature!。Yes, we have a Clan system that allows you to team up with other players. This will become very important in later phases of the game when you journey towards the Mantis homeworld. But I don't want to give away too much of the story at this time. ;)。Definitely. We are looking to roll out a new starsystem every 2 weeks now. Much of the material already exists, we just need to put it together and polish it to a degree where it is good enough to put it into the game.。
Onrpg: Did you consider browser compatibilitsues and how it would affect the game? How did you handle problems like this?。
Onrpg: How did you manage to make the browser gamers connect with those who are playing through the client? 。The PVP system, called PIRATE MODE, was in fact launched just yesterday! It's pretty straightforward – just click on the large skull icon on the top of the screen to activate Pirate Mode. When in Pirate Mode, you can fight other players. You also get more XP with PM on. Check the in-game help syster details.。
Onrpg: Will there be more customization choices come commercial launch? Can you give us an idea what the players can expect?。We're working very hard to go into Open Beta as soon as possible, so that even more players try the game and provide feedback.。
Onrpg: There has been bug and glitch issues with the mission system how are things fixing those issues?。 We have Gustaf Stechmann from Splitscreen Studios giving us the what’s up with the world of Space Pirates.。Yes we are thinking about ways to make the first 15 minutes even more pleasant and accessible.。We have issues launching the game from some of the more exotic browsers, such as Chrome and Opera. But we will fix those in due time. The game itself will not be affected, it only cts the start-up process.。
Onrpg: How is the Closed Beta Test going?。 Questions by Vincent Haoson, Onrpg writerAnswered by Gustaf Stechmann, Splitscreen Studios。It is always a pleasure for us here in Onrpg to hear from companies who are eager to share what goes on behind the closed doors of their “think tanks”. It’s just so happens that the people behind the new sci-fi space game Pirate Galaxy opened their doors for us to let us know what’s happening with their Closed Beta Test.。Fixing the glitches is usually very swift – finding them is the problem. That why it is important for us to work hand in hand with the community. Keep in mind that our team is fairly small – wmply don't have the resources to test all the missions as thoroughly as we would want to.。
Onrpg: Will you include more game system, or system tweaks before closed beta ends?。
Onrpg: What’s in store for Pirate Galaxy in the succeeding weeks?。We are working on items that let you modify your ship, weapons, shields and other onboard systems. There will also be an editor to create your individual logo, which you can then also use as Clan insignia.。That was something we added because so many players requested it. We would have added it earlier but it took us a while to figure out how to do it right so that it harmonizes with the more indirect point-and-click control system that we have. I think we have found a pretty good compromise – the WASD controls now give you a good degree of col over your ship, while at the same time not making the game too “skill”-driven.。
Onrpg: Will you include more planets where players can explore? Will it be integrated into the terran’’war against the mantis?。In the Antares starsystem you will be able to access to a whole lot of new ships, as well as new customization options. The ideas for what's in the game come from many different places... Asimov novels, watching Battlestar Galactica, drinking beer, smoking bits of the houseplants in our office while watching Galactica and drinking beer.... ;)

Is Final Fantasy XIV Really That Bad

Crafting requires player participation to be done effectively. Instead of harvesting the world armtnl its fruits with one click, minigames are used to add depth and an increased element of chance to material gathering and forging. There are many crafting roles available, from gathering herbs and chopping trees to smelting ore and weaving cloth. The manufacturing process employs a system where players must decide how they want to craft an item, at the expense of durability or quality, making for a particularly rewarding (or punishing) diversion from questing.。

One thing is clear. FFXIV is not finished, not by a long shot. There are fundamental features omitted that even the most casual MMO player would overlook in other titles. There is no mail system, no dungeons and no raids. The grouping system is practically useless and mounts don't feature - not even Chocobos. For some reason Final Fantasy XIV was rushed to release, and the damning response from both critics and players could forever prevent the game from growing. It's a shame, as FFXIV is filled with great and interesting idermtaat for one reason or another didn't work out.
The game takes place in Eorzea. A large, beautiful world filled with rolling fields and jaw-dropping vistas. The graphical prowess of Final Fantasy XIV is staggering, ly making the game a likely contender for a Best Looking MMO award at some video games ceremony. It is a truly gorgeous title - but saved only for those with the best systems. If your system isn't fairly recent then expect to crank down the settings a fair bit. Optimization is one of the many things omitted from FFXIV. The game looks dire on any settings lower than high, and even systems that meet the recommended system requirements will not be immune to the sluggish performance and random frame rate drops that littered the game's relatively short beta.。

Guildleves are quests and tasks that players can undertake at their leisure. Available from vendors at each of the major cities, levequests offer experience and rewards and can be completed solo or as part of a group. Each task points to a certain area or camp on the map, and players must travel to said location and activate their quest using the Aetheryte crystal positioned there. Quests range from simple kill and collect missions, to crafting assignments and gathering duties. No matter what the difficulty l chosen, levequests aren't particularly challenging or indeed interesting and their implementation lacks reasoning. Why couldn't they have had NPCs hand out quests, instead of forcing players to travel back to cities to collect their next quest card?。

Whilst teleporting is available it ily to places where you have previously visited. Actually getting around Eorzea is a slow and painful process. The world may be awe-inspiring to gaze at, but the vast lands are disappointingly barren. Invisible walls block your path at every turn, and both jumping and swimming have been omitted. The interface itself is functional, nowhere near as bad as some make out, but it's still a chore to do the most trivial of things. Its responsiveness may have improved since launch but there is still much room for improvement.。

Travelling is a drag
Interface is slow and cumbersome
Very little actual content。

Square Enix didn't want to put another cookie cutter MMO out there. Their intentions are clear, even commendable, but the end product falls flat in almost every area. Instead of a game with a unique, diverse levelling system and deep crafting mechanics, Final Fantasy XIV is an unbalanced, unfinished and unentertaining MMORPat lacks flow. The game is littered with interesting and novel ideas, but their execution is half hearted at best. Changes have been promised, but it's going to take a hell of a lot of work to make XIV a title worthy of bearing the Final Fantasy name.。

If first impressions are anything to go by, then yes - Final Fantasy XIV really is that poor. Everything in this game is a struggle. Its registration process is so convoluted that players deserve an extonth of game time just for getting online. You have to look deeper to find any redeeming factor in this game, and unfortunately for Square Enix, it's going to take a lot more than the removal of subscription fees and the promise of change to keep players interested.。

Unlike most other MMOs, you aren't restricted to any specific role or class in Eorzea. Your class is determined by whatever you hold in your main hand. Fancy becoming a Carpenter? Pick up a saw. Want to fight as a Marauder? Equip an axe. There are eighteen classes available and all can be interchanged on the fly. Whilst each individual class has its own level, players also have a Physical Level used to represent overall progress. It's an intriguing concept that should work better than it actually does. The system is plagued with balancing issues and the game ultimately fails to pde enough actual content for each individual skill.
Final Fantasy is famous for having great storytelling and XIV attempts to push players through its own narrative. Unfortunately it is so disengaged from the rest of the game that it's almost impossible to care. Silent cutscenes read like a novel, and the odd story quest every few levels isn't a suitable reward for thurs of grind required to reach it. Levequests make up a large portion of the game - and like so many other features, it is a novel idea hampered by poor execution.。

Following its release last September, Square Enix's latest entry into the famed Final Fantasy series was met with a decidedly negative response. Now in its fourteenth iteration, a game with Final Fantasy sprawled across the cover is usually indicative of a genre-defining role-playing experience. The series is home to titles that many consider to be the greatest of all time, but recently the response to Square Enix's flagship role-playing game hasn't been what the series has come to expect. The long-awaited Final Fantasy XIII was criticized for being too linear and boring, and the announcement of a second MMORPG bearihe twenty year old credentials didn't exactly set the world on fire. Rightly so, many would assume after looking at early reviews, but is Final Fantasy XIV really that bad?。

Beautiful, sprawling world is awe-inspiring
Interesting crafting system
Novel approach to levelling。

First Look At Victory Age Of Racing

The OnRPG team had the chance to get an early glimpse at GamersFirst’s Victory: rmtAf Racing at GDC and we have to say that we were happily surprised by this upcoming Free to Play Racing MMO.

The competitive nature of the game is sure to appeal to racing enthusiast around the world and the unique three tier (Rookie, Sermtmo, Pro) system that increases the reality of the driving physics as you go up the ranks will make sure the game is easy to learn while still being just challenging enough to master!

Due to some brilliant coding the client is very light (weighing in at around 500 megabytes compressed, and 1 Gigabyte installed) and the system specs are nice and low for such a graphically strong game. As the game engine uses shaders exively it isn’t slowed down by lots of textures on the cars and you can really tell.。And if customizing your ride is your thing, this game has your back as well. Where other games will let you use 10 or sometimes even 20 layers to create logos, decals and other designs Victory has opted for a nice round number of layers they allow: infinite. (Yes, infinite)

We’re working closely with GamersFirst on getting some oe OnRPG crew behind the wheel of the game for a more extensive test so check back here in a little while if you’re interested in learning more about Victory!。 。。 。 。 By Nic van 't Schip, OnRPG Admin

Wolfenstein 3D iOS pulled in Switzerland

Wolfenstein 3D Classic - an iOS port of the classic id shooter - has been pulled from Apple's App Store in Switzerland and Austria. These countries, it seems, still don't apprecrmtian abundance of Nazi Swastika signs in their video games. Can't think why.Posting on Twitter, id's John Carmack wrote: "The iOS App Stores in Switzerland and Austria just lost Wolfenstein Classic due to the offensive swastikas. :-("The game has players shooting their way through a Nazi stronghold with Swastika signs adorning the walls, and this isn't the first time the game has run into issues because of this - all signs were removed from the Super Nintendo version released in 1994, as Gamespot notes. There doesn't appear to be any threat of the game being removed from the App Store more widely. New rumours today have claimed that the as-yet-unannounced iPhone 5 will be on sale by mid-October with a thinner, lighter profile, better camera, bigger screen and improved antenna. Mike Jackson
